The main classification feature of conveyor equipment is the type of traction and load-bearing mechanism. There is a conveyor equipment with belt, chain, cable traction mechanisms and without a traction mechanism (for example, gravitational, inertial and screw).
Conveyor equipment with traction mechanism is divided according to the type of load-bearing element into belt, plate, luchnechny, scraper, bucket, etc. For such conveyors is typical of the movement of the cargo in the working areas. The pulling force is transmitted by the load-bearing element or by an element that pushes or pulls the load along a stationary trench, pipe or floor.
For conveyors without a traction organ is characterized by a different movement of the load and the working bodies performing a circular rotational (roller, screw conveyors) or reciprocating working motion (for example, inertial conveyors). Conveyors can have a machine drive (most often – electric, less often – pneumatic). In gravitational conveyors, the load moves under the action of gravity. Depending on the available conditions, floor and suspended conveyors are used.
In the operation of warehouse complexes, mainly belt and roller conveyors, roller tables, as well as various rotary sections of the corresponding structure are used.
Due to their versatility, the most common are belt conveyors, consisting of a load-bearing annular band, intermediate support rollers, drive and tension drums with drive equipment and supporting structure. The traction and simultaneously load-carrying mechanism of the conveyor is a belt moving along roller bearings or on a smooth surface. The load moves along the tape along with it. Depending on the type of support rollers, the tape has a flat or grooved shape. Conveyors of this type can move almost any goods and objects: loose products, single loads, boxes, various parts, etc. The choice of conveyor belts with certain physicochemical properties depends on the type of transported cargo, its friction on the belt, and also on the speed and the way the conveyor is loaded. To move piece goods using flat smooth tape; small and loose goods are transported along a belt made with triangular, pyramidal, chevron, diamond and other types of corrugation. Tapes that have transverse walls up to 200 mm on the working surface allow transporting goods at an inclination of up to 35-40.
